There is nothing "new" about this song. "The Whisper Song" is a "New Low" because it set an entirely different level of lowness. It set the bar at about 3 inches off the ground. However, "Play" just rides the coattails. In other words, "Play" is not much "newer", or "lower", enough dethrone "The Whisper Song". “Play” cannot be considered New Lows.
