Von, it's a bit light on narrative and heavy on FX for my tastes too, but who's counting?

As for the new genre of DSLR movies, you're absolutely right -- thousands of (aspiring) filmmakers are thrilled with the prospect of shooting great-looking images for unprecedentedly cheap, and so we have tons of films that look great and are about nothing. It'll wear off with time, and the good narratives will come to the front I think.

Nice look behind-the-scenes for Nuit Blanche here -- I had no idea everything but the people was CGI.

Don't get me wrong, this footage looks nice, but I swear that hdslr's are creating a new genre of short film that's just basically extending a commercial over a few minutes. I guess it's so fresh and new so everyone is excited to get the kind of shots that we would have had to pay a lot more for just a few years ago, but so many films shot on the 7d, 5d and so on just seem like somewhat narrative tech demos. 'Look what my camera can do!'

Eheh, first thing I though myself (Rabbit is probably my favourite song-video combo ever) but then I was too busy watching it over again to mind it at all!
