Get Ready for a Ballet Thriller: Darren Aronofsky's 'Black Swan' Trailer Debuts
Darren Aronofsky, who made his directorial debut in 1998 with the $60k black-and-white Pi (which went on to gross over $3 million at the box office), will be premiering his latest film Black Swan at the Venice Film Festival September 1st. The trailer for the Natalie Portman and Milas Kunis-starrer has hit the internets, and it’s a mysterious one:
I can say with certainty that I’ve never seen a ballet-thriller before. If the job of a trailer is to pique one’s curiosity, consider mine piqued. How about you, though? Do you find yourself weirdly drawn to this film, or just weirded out?

Never saw The Red Shoes? Not so much a “thriller” per se but it does deal with some similar themes.

William — never did. Netflix thinks I’ll give it 4 stars, though… it’s in the queue now.

I can guarantee Aronofsky used it as a jumping off point not to mention it’s a beautiful, haunting film.
