Risking passing along a possibly bad rumor, but here's a quote from the EOSHD blog: "Just so you all know, I just spent all day with a Canon rep yesterday who let us test a C100, C300, and the 1Dc (we also shot some 5D3, and mushy FS100 footage). He assured me that with the 5D firmware update this spring, we will have uncompressed video that is the EXACT same as the 1Dc in it's "super 35" cropped sensor mode. This was HUGE news to me. Also, from what I saw- The 1Dc even at 4K didn't hold up as well as the C100 with Sound Devices external recorder under controlled light. I'm definitely not poo pooing the 1Dc, but for my needs the C100 is the camera for me at that price."

I'll believe it when I see it, but can't wait to find out for sure...

why the camera has a writing speed limit of 100 Mbit/s?

It's a joke that Canon tried to impose "24fps" onto the European market. No Canon, you do not dictate what the customers want.

Sony all the way !!!

Just to clarify, most European drama is shot natively at 25P. Here in the US, most major shows are shot at 24P, then transcoded to 30fps for broadcast. Therefore, not having 25P cuts out a HUGE part of the European production market.

I think Canon have done this because their pro retailers (particularly Europe's largest camera distributor) told them how many it would sell on the basis that they do it. End-users' opinions they are less interested in - distributors are a very different story.
The 1DC is attracting serious pro attention (budgets over 500k per screen hour) - its the camera THEY have been waiting for. A camera they can use as they use 7Ds/D800s now, but with better pic quality to cut into primarily Alexa footage. At that level, this is their version of a 4K GoPro.

Even if they were planning it, when was the last time they improved a camera like this shortly after release? Their updates are usually very few and far between. It may not be a sign of anything, but I think it's interesting that they caved on the Mark III clean HDMI and the 1D C may see a number of updates in the not too distant future.
