Erick,
I purchased the iXY for my ipod touch because I using a Sony ECMMS907 to collect field recordings (with special TRRS Y-adapter that allowed me to monitor at the same time with headphones). I thought this would be a great solution for collecting field recordings without any additional hardware (e.g. H4N, which I was also considering for a long time). I wanted to use the devices I already had. The iXY does have a sturdy connection, so long as you don't stress it, but you'll find that in all ipod touch models, the headphone jack is too obscured to get anything plugged in...so you won't be able to monitor real-time (which is very handy when adjusting compression, EQ, although you can always add that later with the software). To monitor, you'd need a very flimsy headphone adapter (one that could bend significantly) or ideally, a very low profile 90-degree elbow jack that could fit under the iXY. I haven't seen anything yet that looks low enough. Perhaps I may make my own with bare-bones insulation. The other alternative is to add a dock extender - either the single piece hardware that projects the female dock connection out about an inch (makes it more flimsy) or the dock extender cable, which would mean the iXY is now mounted on the end of a cable which you'd be holding by hand...depends on your situation which one makes sense to use.

The worlds first iOs recording device at 24/96? - Auria has had 24/96 it for awhile and is great!

I have a Zoom H4n and a Rode NT4 and a Shure VP88 I love these mics I've had them for around 6 years but the cheap plastic mics on the H4n sound better than both the Shure and the VP88.

This iXY mic is ashame really - I can't think of a worse element than Stereo, it's not right for vocals, interviews, stereo is nice for accousic guitar and recording your local riot ambience - I think the new Apogee ONE iOs version would be a better buy ashame it doesn't plug in to the lightning connector then again this doesn't either.

Oh, and moreover, that's not the first 24bit 96Khz device out there able to record on iOS. Not even close.
Look here : http://auriaapp.com/Support/auria-audio-interfaces

-------------
Totally wrong.
There is not a lot of Android recording apps, multitrack recorder or things like that, because there has been a lot of work on the USB Audio specification ( which is part of all the USB specifications ) only in the latest Android OS, to allow the OS to work in realtime, with latency under 10ms.
If the latency is over 10ms, you can begin to feel a delay between, for example, the time you sing, and the time you hear what you're singing.
With iOS, as there is no Java virtual machine, there is a direct access to the hardware, so the latency is down to 5ms for a long time.
Moreover, if you want to use a USB audio interface, your android phone or tablet must support the USB Host mode ( often referred to as "USB OTG"), and your USB audio interface must be able to work without driver (referred to as "USB Class Compliant" or "USB CC").
