Man, as I was watching it, I was specifically thinking, weird—in some ways this is a variation of a “youtube cat video”, but at the same time I was thinking, this is the best cat video ever.

Awesome! All excellent films deserving recognition/awards. Agree with other commentators, “Catnip”, though sited as potentially serious in nature for some felines, yet the story portrayal is full of amusement.

Heh, I know this is probably a little goofy but as both a subscriber to No Film School and the writer/director/editor/ etc of “Catnip: Egress to Oblivion?” I just wanted to briefly chime in to say that:

a) I’m probably just as staggered as anyone around the whole ride my (shot with a 5d Mk III and edited down on FCP X) short film has taken.

b) I couldn’t have done it w/o you (no, honestly. I’ve picked up so much stuff from this site — thanks very much, guys.)

Okay, okay — moving on from my thing I’d also like to mention that though I saw a LOT of great shorts at Sundance (the animated block in particular felt dense packed with awesome), Irish Folk Furniture really blew me away. It’s just so beautiful and well done, and very much showcases what I love about short film.
