The two lenses join other primes in their flagship line, which also includes a 45mm f/1.8 and 35mm f/1.8. The 90mm has existed for years, but this new version should have improved chromatic aberration performance and includes 3.5 stops of image stabilization. The 85mm is a brand new design, has 3.5 stops of image stabilization, and is also the first lens of its kind with IS from any manufacturer. The 90mm will run $650 and be available in March, while the 85mm will be available in April, with pricing TBA. Both will be come in Nikon F and Canon EF mounts, while the Sony A-Mount version is coming later.

Here's more from Tamron on the 85mm:

The Tamron SP 85mm F/1.8 is the world’s first* 85mm fast-aperture lens with image stabilization. Its unique design allows us to include our VC (Vibration Compensation) system—without the lens becoming too large or heavy. What’s more, our SP 85mm F/1.8 delivers edge-to-edge viewfinder brightness for ease of composition and superior low-light performance. The fast aperture of the F/1.8 also offers the perfect balance of subject sharpness and bokeh, that dreamy blur which separates your portrait subject from the background.

XY-Shift compensation has been newly added to reinforce VC functionality, further improving image stabilization capabilities at any shooting distance from infinity to macro. Advancements in USD control software have also increased AF focusing speed and optimally fine-tuned for various framing conditions. Furthermore, a high standard of Moisture-Proof and Dust-Resistant Construction has been added to prevent intrusion of dust or water droplets. Highly durable, Fluorine Coating is applied to the top element surface and efficiently prevents condensation of moisture and repels smudge-causing substances.
