The denouement weekend of awards season is finally here, and it's not just the Academy that has a moment in the spotlight. The Film Independent Spirit Awards also take place on Saturday, February 25 at 2:00 pm PST / 5:00 pm EST. These awards, brought to us by the same folks responsible for the LA Film Festival, celebrate the best in independent film. The definition of "independent" in this case is hotly up for debate, with many of this year's nominated movies having budgets in the tens of millions. One thing we can pretty much guarantee, however, is that with comedians Nick Kroll and John Mulaney hosting, this show will be a lot more fun than a certain other event happening the following day.
