If you've ever operated a gimbal alone, you already know the challenges of finding focus. 24shots is looking to help out with its latest follow focus solution dubbed Silencer AIR.
The system is completely wireless and provides full remote control through its intuitive app to create smooth, stable shots with a touch of a button. Yup. A button. You touch it, and boom, you're in focus. The re-imagined design features its next-gen Trigger Control which connects directly to the motor for simple wireless communication. The trigger can be mounted to any type of rig including DJI Ronin-M, Ronin, Freefly MoVI M5/10/15 or DSLR, Blackmagic Canon EOS, RED, Sony, ARRI or Panavision camera.
The powerful tool for filmmakers offers many advanced features for ground and aerial cinematography. Owner Bob Benson told No Film School the product is completely outfitted with the 24shot app which allows you to control four modes—Classic, Set Marks, Tracking and Drone—directly from your smartphone.
Classic provides full motor speed adjustments for run and gun filming. In addition, a turbo function helps adjust stiff lenses.
Set Marks can save up to twenty different lens focus/zoom marks for a shot. The apps Transition Editor allows you to adjust the speed and slope between each shot with push button control from the trigger or app.
Tracking directly links the trigger to the position of the lens. As you pull or push the trigger the motor simultaneously moves the lens. With one finger, you can rotate the lens from one end to the other precisely hitting your focus marks.
Drone enables you to use any lens and have set endpoints. A direct connection of the Silencer AIR to your remote receiver provides full control to the remote focus puller.
Additionally, the system allows you to save and share specifics for each lens. What's more impressive is the motor module only weighs 3.5oz, dramatically reducing the weight which is critical when operating gimbal rigs. An optional Pro Gear Drive re-orients the motor drive vertically to mate gears directly with the lens and its custom rail clamp adapts to existing 15 or 19mm rail systems.
