If you just recently picked up a DSLR camera for the first time, or if your footage just isn't looking the way you want it to, or the workflow on your camera just isn't working as efficiently as you'd like, you might want to give your camera settings a little makeover. From shutter speed to frame rate, to sound recording to file numbering, there are so many different settings in your camera's menu that you can adjust to make your images better and your process more efficient. But, if you're not sure which ones to mess with, filmmaker Darious Britt shares the camera settings he uses on his Canon 60D in the video below.

While there are certain camera settings that you will keep locked down throughout the entire life of your camera, there are some that you will most likely be changing to fit the needs of a particular shot. This is when it becomes important to not just know which settings to adjust, but how those adjustments will change the look of your image, as well as the overall handling of your camera.

But Britt provides a great tour of all of the camera settings you'll need to know about, not to mention a step-by-step guide on which of those settings you'll want to adjust to get the "best" picture. And no, this isn't the be-all-end-all in camera settings; there are other settings that will better suit your particular shot/project/personal tastes, but if you're just starting out and have literally no idea how to even open your camera settings menu, then this video is going to set you up nice and pretty.
