Spike Jonze has written and directed a live performance, CHANGERS: A Dance Story, starring Mia Wasikowska and Lakeith Stanfield, playing for a limited engagement through September 15 at La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre. In true Spike Jonze fashion, instead of keeping the show as a limited affair for a small audience, he adapted a section of the piece and shot a live short dance film on the set of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon—during the show.

The result is whimsical, and you will actually forget that you're watching a short film that is happening in real time on the set of The Tonight Show. Enjoy.

After shooting the live short film, Jonze, Wasikowska and Stanfield sat down with Fallon to discuss the project, a dialogue-free narrative where all communication between the characters happens through dance. Jonze explained that they plan to shoot in various locations around New York City to turn the live performance into a 40-minute film.

If you're in NYC and want to see the full performance live before it disappears, you can get tickets here.
