Film Crew

"No pay, Meals, copy, credit provided." I've seen this in a group online one night searching for crew. Does any directors/producers actually find a crew to work for only those benefits? I've tried but can't seem to find anyone that will. I have two films in development just about ready for pre-prod soon and will need to assemble a crew very soon; a DP, Dolly Grip, Sound, Producer, Editor, etc. A few DP's I've interviewed asked for union wages, i.e. 1k week or 12k month. Please let me know of anyone interested, I would love to have a crew work on my productions for catered food plus craft service, copy of DVD, credit of choice and a wrap party. And DP's, cameras I prefer are Panavision, Arri Alexa, Arri 435, Panavision Primo Prime Lenses, Anamorphic 2.35. Contact me here or on facebook pm please.

Generally, those sorts of deals are used at the 'no-budget' end of filmmaking where the crew isn't as experienced as a 10 year DP and/or the project is a passion project for those involved.

If you are making a film and hope to see a financial return, maybe its best to either pay crew up front, or offer a contra/deal memo that involved equity and ownership of the film, if that can't be afforded. But even then, not everyone wants that, and that's completely ok. I would understand if the guy/girl with an Arri Alexa would want to be paid...
