$500 to spend on BMPCC Lens.

So I got a BMPCC, and I am looking for an all around nice sharp lens for it. I am willing to spend about 500 dollars. I'd just like a lens that's wide enough to be used as my primary lens. It seems like c-mount is the best option, since I will most likely get the best value for older lenses. I don't want anything soft but with "character"; I'd like something nice and sharp. Any recommendations?

I'm not sure about c-mount, but I recently got a few M42-mount lenses for my BMPCC from a used camera show. Older lenses don't seem to be very sharp wide open. But this might be the only real limitation - generally, even the cheap ones are much more solidly-built and nicer to handle than affordable modern lenses.

I got a Chinon 28mm/2.8 for £10. I haven't used it yet and I doubt it's anything special. However, coming from a DSLR (as you might be?), I've realised that the codec was the main issue - even my nifty-fifty produces great shots on the BMPCC. And the camera can render such great detail, you may find that sharpness is no longer the thing you look for in a lens.

I should add that I'm using a MB Speedbooster.
