Cheap hard light options

Suppose your trying to light a low/no budget Noir short or feature. What would you use?

Rent or buy a few 250 watt Lowel Pro lights. I own 6 of these lights, 4 of them I bought used. ( my best buy was 2 used Pro lights for $100 with barn-doors )

I have several Aputure lights, and LOVE THEM. They're CRI 95+ (good quality lights), have spots for gels, dimmable... I found this link which includes free batteries and a case, so you can go portable.

OR this one saves you some money by buying 2. I often bring 2 on a shoot and have great results:

The Arri 650, 1k and 2k Junior fresnels come to mind. Just stay away from LED panels. Terrible suggestion to anyone shooting noir style film - You'll get shadows way too soft, and often with artifacts if you shoot without some kind of diffusion.
