How do you assign monetary value to a screenplay?

Hi All,

In the amateur market of short films and odd jobs, how do you come up with a $ figure for the creative output, preparation and time that goes into making a script?

What units of measurement are used to breakdown the cost?

More specifically, I'm a photographer and I bill x-amount per hour and give x-amount of photos to my client. Makeup, hair, styling, and film/digital format all factor in as well. What's the logistical breakdown of the script business?

Thanks
