Director, AVID Commercial Editor
Yeah, because John Alcott is just a dude, and Stanley Kubrick was the DoP.
Personally I love Nolan, but I think he needs a new editor. His films never have long shots to let actors performances live. I find myself seeing cuts in his movies more than I do in anyone elses films. I think Interstellar did have some of these moments though - and its why I think it's his best flick.
First music video I ever did was for 2000$ of random peoples 50-100$ donations and was a 15 minute, Rap Opera with 7 songs. We shot over 3 days, 21 hours each. Borrowed a RED One MX, and Steadicam in return for free PA/Grip work in the area.
Practical here is cheaper for sure. Render farms, and CG specialists would be way more expensive.
Literally looks like they said, "You know Whiplash? Let's do that."
Cool. So... its DaVinci Resolve now.
