I think most people would have rather seen 4K in the C100 and not the 5DIV. Although, a 4K DSLR from Canon would be very appealing to me. I somewhat enjoy the small form factor of the 5D but cameras like the GH4 are just TOO small.
Everyone keeps looking to Canon to meet all their needs in a single affordable camera. That's not going to happen. This is a great camera for a starting filmmaker that wants to diversify their services. Having the ability to market yourself for both photography and film with just one tool can really help pay the bills.
...but it's DSLR not a video camera.
You're right but maybe I missed the part where it's relevancy was discussed in the blog post. I mean, yea, writers/producers can use it. It should allow for long writing sessions without a charger. The screen space should allow for better document editing. It's full sized keyboard is a great benefit for writing in contrast to normal tablet sized keyboards. All great things - none mentioned.
I'm not sure how this plays into filmmaking other than announcing a likely unusable option for an editing device.
But they added WiFi to the camera....they just don't know what it does.
I think the 60p is only available using the MP4 format.
