But what if I can't make it down to the Red Giant store? Is there some other way to take advantage of this incredible sale? Like through the inter webs?
I watched the film and learned a few things. I had kinda scoffed at the cattle-methane thing but it made sense. Though I'm a beefeater I will cut back some and eat more poultry. Another takeaway was the palm oil industry - what a freakin' disaster and the saddest thing is, besides the environmental damage, it's a terrible thing for humans to consume, just artery clogging crap! To cut down all that jungle/forest to replace it with palm oil farms is insane. There was definitely a lot of politicking going on throughout, I'm not a denier, I actually study the ice pack and global temps and listen to all the various theories (there is NO consensus) and have been to Antarctica, which he did a crappy job covering and didn't mention that the ice there is actually growing to record size, NOT melting. A lot of panic etc and stupid statements using words like unprecedented and catastrophic for things that are neither. Anyways, I recommend watching but not a great doc from a filmmaking perspective, just average.
Correct! Also, when you use Command-X you are NOT deleting the clip, you are putting on the clipboard! Just hit Command - V and see what happens...
The 16x9 crop is around 36MP from what I remember from the presentation. It also has a widescreen 2:40 type crop. If the X-T2 can down-res via hardware in camera from 5k to 4k and 3k to 1080 than I think they could do similar with larger format but who knows. I thought the 2 photographers they profiles on Youtube's video looked pretty good and all shot in 4k with the X-T2 - my next camera by the way :)
The saddest part about all these great hardware upgrades is no one making editing programs even cares! Adobe's specs are now 3 generations and 3 years old with the last update the GTX 780! Avid? forget about it - they update about once a decade and never for gamer cards. Apple? They've ditched nVidia to save cash with inferior AMD. Maybe BMD will be first with Resolve on the GTX 1080?
"...a gaming laptop doesn't tend to have the I/O ports that a video editor might be looking for"... USB 3, USB 3.1, Thunderbolt 3 - what else is an editor looking for SCSI?
