Screen-shot-2010-10-11-at-1Last night's episode of The Simpsons featured an opening directed by none other than street artist Banksy. In the opening, Banksy sends up the Simpsons' long-standing practice of outsourcing their animation overseas to Korean production company Akom by portraying Asian laborers animating the sequence and manufacturing Simpsons schwag:

How's that for dark self-reflexivity? Bet you didn't know that Bart dolls were stuffed with shredded kittens and packed in boxes sealed by dead dolphin heads!

In other news, Banksy's terrific and hilarious Exit Through the Gift Shop comes out in the US on DVD... well, I'm not sure when. It's already out in the U.K on DVD, which seems like an error of gargantuan proportions, considering that U.S. fans of street art will have no problem torrenting the widely available film in lieu of waiting for a foolishly staggered DVD release.

The full Simpsons episode can be found on Hulu.
