Hollywood and VineAirbnb is primarily known as a company and website that connects hosts with travellers who looking for accommodations that aren't hotels or hostels. Now they seem to be branching out into the indie film world via Vine, the Twitter-based 6-second looping video app launched in January. Airbnb wants to make the world's first feature film composed entirely of Vines, and they want everyone's help. Click below to check out how you can become part of "movie" history through "Hollywood & Vine."

Since the app's launch less than a year ago, it's made 'stars' of some of its most widely followed users. A few months ago, I wrote about how one Vine user makes his relatively complicated films using the app's constrictions (time, the fact that you can't correct any errors, etc.)

Now, Airbnb is getting in on the act with their project Hollywood & Vines, where users are encouraged to follow directions on Twitter, film their own scenes, and send them to Aibnb, who will then presumably edit the results into a film. While this model is vaguely like Star Wars Uncut, Airbnb is acquiring original footage instead of making a shot-for-shot remake of a preexisting film, so Airbnb will be able to sell the results. (Filmmakers receive a $100 Airbnb coupon if their Vine is selected, but all rights are ceded to Airbnb in perputuity, throughout the universe, etc., etc..)

In case you missed it in the video, here's what you need to do to get started:

  1. Follow @Airbnb on Twitter.
  2. Watch for daily shot directions via @Airbnb.
  3. Make Vines.

Time is running out,  though. If you want to contribute your Vine and possibly be part of film history, the deadline is today (August 27th) 5:00pm EST! So get Vining!

Do you think apps like Vine or Instagram Video have a future in filmmaking? Would you contribute to a project like this? Let us know!
