Show off the Beauty of 4K in Sharp's 2nd Annual Art of Amazing 4K Film Competition
Last October, Sharp ran a filmmaking contest called the Art of Amazing 4K Film Competition, and now they're back for another round of ultra high definition goodness. and once again asking filmmakers to submit their best 4K short films. Once again partnering with THX and RED, Sharp will be taking 4K short film entries for the chance to win a host of cool prizes, like a screening of your film at the Mill Valley Film Festival, a private tour of Skywalker Ranch, and more than $65,000 in prizes for filmmakers and fans.
Sharp is taking 4K short film entries of up to 10 minutes in length (up from last year's 4-minute max) that "capture the full potential of an amazing high resolution entertainment experience." Essentially what they're looking for are short films that not only showcase UHD's ability to produce great detail and color, but also demonstrate your aptitude as a filmmaker to create beautiful compositions and tell engaging stories. Submissions can be abstract, narrative, technical, or genre bending and should showcase beauty and emotion in unique perspectives. Films will be judged on creativity, technical quality, and the ability to capture detailed, vivid scenes showcasing all of the benefits that high resolution offers.
Judging the competition are representatives of not only Sharp, THX, and RED, but those from Lucasfilm, The California Film Institute, and Adobe. Finalists of the competition will be screened during the Mill Valley Film Festival (which, according to Sharp, is where 5 of the last 6 films that won the Oscar for Best Picture were screened), though all submitted films will be considered to be screened there, too. Finalists will also receive filmmaker badges for the festival, which gives access to industry lounges, private screenings, brunches, parties, and a private reception. Last but certainly not least, finalists get a private tour of Skywalker Ranch.
