These are our first images and specs of the HERO4, which is rumored to be announced October 8th (no price info yet). There will be two versions of the camera that we know of, the Black and Silver editions, and apparently previous accessories will work with the new cameras (thanks to PetaPixel for the images and info):

Update: Here is a new resolution chart from PetaPixel:

GoPro HERO4 Silver Resolution Chart

There have been rumors for a long time about what GoPro would be doing with their next major release (4K 30fps was likely), but this looks like our first solid information. The company has been consistent with announcing new products in the fall, and this year will be no different with the HERO4 Black and Silver. It seems like all of the specs are confirmed, but we may find out more when these cameras are officially announced.

While 4K is exciting for drone work (among other things), finally getting manual controls over exposure is huge. This has been one of my pet peeves with the cameras, and I know many others have been asking for this as well. If this turns out to be 100% accurate, these tiny cameras just got a whole lot more usable in more situations.

Having a touchscreen is nice, but it's interesting that only one of the models would get it, and the other wouldn't. Manual controls make this a very nice update for lots of work. As far as accessories go, apparently there will be some sort of battery pack add-on and a grip that keeps the camera afloat (among a few others). We won't have long to wait to find out the full confirmed specs and the price, so stay tuned.
