The significance of the Shogun is not just that it records 4K video -- there are numerous external recorders that can accomplish that feat -- but that it does so via an HDMI connection, which makes it the perfect companion for the new generation of mirrorless cameras like the Panasonic GH4, Sony A7s, and the Samsung NX1, all of which can output a 4K signal via their mini HDMI output.
