In the spirit of the holidays, Tokina has announced instant savings for their line of cinema zoom lenses, which includes a 16-28mm and an 11-16mm, both with a constant aperture of T3. From today until January 12th of 2015, the 16-28mm will be $500 off its original price of $4500 and the 11-16mm will be $250 off its original price of $1900. These lenses come in a variety of mounts, including EOS, Micro 4/3, and PL (for the 16-28).

Tokina first announced these lenses back at NAB 2013, where NFS and FreshDV caught up with them to chat:

And here's a recent overview of the Tokina ATX cine lenses from the fine folks at Adorama.

These Tokina lenses fill an interesting niche in the cinema lens market right now. For the time being, they sit right in between extremely inexpensive options like the Rokinon cine primes and higher-end options like the Zeiss CP2/CZ2 and the Canon Cinema EOS lenses. Even though the Tokinas aren't inexpensive by any stretch of the imagination, they provide the features and optical quality of much more expensive cinema zooms at a mere fraction of the cost, which makes them an interesting option for filmmakers looking to own a cine-zoom or two without having to take out a second mortgage on their house.

This deal is available until January 12th, so if you're interested in stuffing your stocking with a new cinema zoom lens this winter, head on over to B&H and snag those savings before they're gone.
