Here's CEO Jeromy Young on the new update for the Atomos Shogun (which actually arrived about a week ago):

An important note: they are shipping higher capacity batteries with the Shogun now, so if you got one with the smaller 2600mAh battery, all you have to do is register your recorder here to get the higher capacity 5600mAh battery.

The current firmware is actually 6.11 at this point (which you can download here), though it's a minor release (FID:060306110207 ):

  • Bug fixes: Fixed occasional issue in playback where the scrub bar would seek to the beginning of the file incorrectly when scrubbing.
  • Known issues: A few seconds analog headphone delay is experienced when switching between playback and record.

The 6.1 update brought about a number of new features and bug fixes (FID:060306100207):

Bug fixes:

  • Improved speed of SATA drive mounting.
  • Recording will start a new clip when exceeding the quicktime sample count limitations - fixes corrupt clips on long recordings
  • Changed screen settings to improve calibration results
  • Fixed obscure problems in timecode accuracy

Features:

  • Playback!
  • Scrolling movie picker
  • Audio meters added to playback
  • Independently record or mute left and right analog channels when recording (Important for 48V)
  • Input screen will notify when monitor is not compatible with the video mode
  • Option to disable HDMI timecode output for monitors who do not accept this flag
  • Tally light now blinks when recording
  • Many GUI enhancements

Known bugs:

  • A few seconds analog headphone delay is experienced when switching between playback and record.

And here's their timeline for when they expect the rest of their new updates and features:

Atomos Shogun 4K Recorder Firmware Timeline

If you're looking for FS RAW or Canon RAW compatibility, you'll have to wait a bit longer. Right now the Convergent Design 7Q series is compatible with all of those formats, so if you don't have a recorder yet and you need those options tomorrow, that's another option.
