Sony also announced the RX10 II and the RX100 IV. Both cameras feature the same stacked 1-inch CMOS sensor, and both have a fixed lens from Zeiss, albeit two different ones. Both cameras are capable of shooting 4K video internally to XAVC-S, and with S-Log2. The most eye-catching feature of these cameras, however, is their slow-motion abilities, as both are capable of bursts of 960fps (when shooting 24p) and a whopping 1000fps (with 25p).

So with the basics out of the way, here's some early footage from the RX10 II:

  • 1920 x 1080p: 60 fps, 30 fps, 24 fps
  • 1280 x 720p: 30 fps
  • 1920 x 1080p: 960 fps, 480 fps, 240 fps
  • 1824 x 1026p: 240 fps

  • 1136 x 384p: 960 fps, 480 fps
  • 800 x 270p: 960 fps

While fixed lenses are traditionally a deal-breaker in this day and age, I can see these little guys carving out a solid niche as B and C cams to their big brothers in Sony's mirrorless line. With internal 4K, S-Log, and high frame rates, these could also fill that role, or serve as crash cams, for productions primarily using Sony's F5, F55, and F65.

Like the a7R II, both the RX10 II and RX100 IV are going to be available for pre-order on June 17th, and both are expected to begin shipping late July. You can check out the RX10 II on B&H here, and the RX100 IV right here.
