What if Ken Burns Directed a 'Star Wars' Galactic Civil War Documentary?
Ken Burns has created a documentary style all his own, one that has often been imitated and parodied.
He's even got his own filter called the "Ken Burns Effect." But what if Burns lived in the world of Star Wars? How would he document this terrible galactic struggle, one that saw brothers and sisters and fathers and sons fighting each other? A recent Washington Post video shows us what that might be like:
Even if you're not the biggest fan of the whole production, the video is absolutely worth a watch just for the Jar Jar Binks line, and it's amazing that Daniel was able to get through that without laughing.
On a serious note, it's worth taking a look at the style that Burns has consistently incorporated into his documentaries and why it works. The biggest reason they've become so popular is because the stories unfold in a very natural way — nothing is hitting you over the head — and the storytelling creates a very real and tangible texture of the time period they are talking about.
Terrific narrators and music also don't hurt either.
