It's the place you go on your first date. It's where you stand in line for hours to see the local premiere of your favorite film. It's where the romance of the big screen makes you fall in love with cinema enough to actually contribute to it. Eusebio Poveda, a video editor from Madrid, captures a tiny snapshot of this magic in his supercut CINEMA in CINEMA, a collection of 139 clips that celebrates the representation of the cinema in 93 different films. (A full list of the films used is in the video's description.)

Okay, sometimes going to the movie theater isn't all that magical; it's crowded, expensive as all hell, and the seats are usually sticky with melted Raisinets. But, you've got to admit -- there are at least a handful of times that you've sat in those sticky seats in a crowded auditorium with a now empty wallet to see a movie that completely blew you away. I remember very distinctly watching Jurassic Park on the mezzanine of the last of my town's non-multiplex theaters, and not only did the drama of all those dinos chasing an ever-screaming Laura Dern transport me into a different world, but the theater did too.

Who knows how long the movie theater will survive, and who knows if we'll be watching big movie premieres on our VR headsets while eating Jiffy Pop at home in our PJs? Who knows?! Perhaps the magic didn't come from the theater itself after all. Maybe it came from the story, the spectacle, and the drama that played out inside of it.
