Being from Springfield, OR, the actual city the show is based off of (it's true, the debate is over, get over it), I've known plenty of Comic Book Guy-level Simpson nerds and connoisseurs who would debate in the middle of the street with people about facts regarding the show. (I mean -- I reached "Flamin' Moe" status on Quiz Up, so...I wouldn't mind dodging cars all afternoon.) So, if you're any type of Simpsons fan, you've got to be well versed in the many, many, many cinematic references that have appeared on the show, from the obvious (Homer busting through a door with an axe like Jack Torrence from The Shining) to the obscure (the fidgety and completely inept salesman Gil Gunderson, who is basically Jack Lemmon's character from Glengarry Glen Ross).

In this Vimeo Staff Pick supercut from Celia Gómez, we get to see some of the greatest movie references from the most successful animated show of all time. Check it out below:

This is not a complete list, obviously. There are hundreds more, including one of my favorites -- a Twin Peaks reference that appears in the episode "Who Shot Mr. Burns".

If you want a more exhaustive list, check out this supercut which contains every single film reference -- from the first five seasons, anyway.
