Think that's a real department store? Nope — sound studio. Think that's Rooney Mara taking pictures with an old Argus C3? Nope — Andy Serkis. It's okay if you weren't aware that Todd Haynes' Carol, starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, even had CGI. The effects are hard to spot. But the video below reveals the astonishing effects that made Carol such a champion in VFX.
Okay, so maybe the right VFX film won on Oscar night, and maybe Andy Serkis was busy when the Carol producers asked him to be involved, but that doesn't detract from the fact that this little ditty from Funny or Die is hilarious. Hopefully it gave you a reprieve from your daily grind.
