This New 80W Micro LED Packs the Same Punch as 200W HMIs

While names like Litepanels, BBS, IKAN, Kino Flo, Dracast, Rotolight, and ARRI Skypanel are staples in the LED community, there are a plethora of options out there when it comes to small, lightweight solutions. Outsight is one of those companies. Hailing from Australia, the birthplace of Blackmagic Design and Atomos, the Creamsource Micro is the fourth release in Outsight's LED range set to debut at NAB 2017.

In case you’re familiar with its bigger brother, the Creamsource Mini+, this LED clocks in at less than half that size without a yoke (8.6”W x 8”H x 4”D). A waterproof design marks an IP65 rating suitable for all weather conditions.

The color temperature adjusts from 2700 to 6500K and boasts a CRI/TLCI above 90.

While we haven’t been able to test the quality of this specific LED, the color temperature does adjust from 2700 to 6500K and boasts a CRI/TLCI above 90. The bi-color fixture will also carry specs similar Outsight's product line: full color control, 0-100% flicker-free dimming, 1,000fps flicker free, filter rails for gels and lenses, and a 50,000-hour lifespan.

The Creamsource Micro draws only 80W of power and rivals the same punch of 200W HMI fixtures while maintaining output across the entire CCT range. The unit can also be powered from a 90WH battery or directly from a car due to its wide 10-32V operating voltage.

The basic Micro kit is priced at $995 and includes the power supply, 3/8” mounting socket, and light fixture. Each Mico has three rigging options: quick release via yoke, a twist-on mount similar to Kino Flo or single 3/8” thread. If you're planning to attend NAB 2017, you can check it out at Booth C10842.
