Watch: 'Fate of the Furious' Shows You How to Explode a Car with a Wrecking Ball — Without CGI

If there's one thing 'The Fast and the Furious' franchise is good at, it's blowing shit up.

Say what you will about the craft behind The Fast and The Furious franchise, but they are undeniably a good time. Fans know what to expect: lots of action, over-the-top performances, and ridiculous stunts—like the one below, which appears in the newest entry, The Fate of the Furious, coming out this Friday.

Yup, that's a 32,000-pound steel wrecking ball that's smashing those cars to smithereens. A real wrecking ball. No CGI to be found here, which makes the effect all the more satisfying. Cleary, it's the ingenuity behind these stunts that keeps audiences coming back for more.

The Fate of The Furious marks the introduction of Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren to a cast already featuring heavy hitters Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, Kurt Russell, and Jason Statham. The film, which is already getting some positive buzz, is directed by Straight Outta Compton's F. Gary Gray.

Does anyone else feel like the cgi paint takes away from it feeling practical? No doubt the cars being smashed around looks incredible on camera but the yellow object your eye is on is cgi painted. On Mad Max your eye was on the center of frame which was mostly practical. Only the edges of frame were enhanced by vfx. I don't have anything wrong with it I was just wondering if it felt distracting. I actually work for the vfx house that did this movie and I still feel this way.
