Blade Runner fans who just can't wait until October for the film's sequel just got an unexpected gift. Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve explains in this short film's introduction that he has asked three fellow artists to create short stories that take place between the original Blade Runner in 2019 and the upcoming sequel thirty year's later. The first short, 2036: Nexus Dawn, directed by Luke Scott, Ridley's son, has premiered and reveals the introduction of a new line of replicants created by Niander Wallace, played by Jared Leto. Check out the short below:

Based on Villeneuve's introduction, we assume two more short films will be arriving in the next few weeks leading up to the premiere of Blade Runner 2049. Until then, feel free to dissect this short film endlessly for clues into how Villeneuve will continue the story in the comments below.
