The new spherical VR Fusion camera wasn't the only big announcement that came from GoPro the other day. The action cam company also unveiled the latest in their HERO line, the HERO6 Black, which comes with upgrades many filmmakers and hobbyists will get excited about. HERO6 Black includes features such as 4K at 60fps, 2.7K 120fps, 1080p at 260fps, waterproofing at up to 33 feet, in-camera image stabilization, better dynamic range, and an all-new GP1 chip that can handle the added performance, all for $499.

Though most filmmakers will get hyped over the high definition slow(er) motion, there are plenty of other features worth getting excited over, including Touch Zoom, which allows you to touch the screen and zoom in on the action, waterproofing at up to 33 feet without a housing, and advanced image stabilization. But perhaps the biggest achievement in this camera is the GP1 chip, which gives the HERO6 double the performance of its predecessor. It's the engine that makes it possible to shoot higher frame rates at higher resolutions. Not only that, but it allows for 3x faster file transfers with its beefed up Wi-Fi, upgraded image stabilization, and better dynamic range.

Here's a more in-depth explanation of each of the HERO6's key features:

The HERO6 also comes with a new feature called QuikStories, which automatically uploads your photos and videos to your phone where then the GoPro app edits them into a video for you. This feature is aimed more at casual users and hobbyists, perhaps even travel vloggers.
