When it comes to gear, there are the obvious essentials that you need to make sure you have, like cameras, lenses, tripods, batteries, and power cables, but there are also a ton of weird, random things that you may not know you need until you actually need it. In this video, Matti Haapoja of TravelFeels lists a handful of handy items that he thinks filmmakers should always carry with them to every set on every project—and to commemorate Cyber Monday, all of them are less than $20. Check it out below:

As you spend more and more time on film sets you'll realize how many completely random things come in handy when you're trying to get your work done. Flashlights, Sharpies, and small screwdrivers soon become worth their weight in gold, because not only are you going to need them eventually, but they fix those stupid, little issues that you don't anticipate having to deal with.

Here's Haapoja's list of essential items:

  • Bongo ties
  • Shower curtain
  • Clamps
  • Step rings
  • Gaff tape
  • China ball lanterns
  • BlackWrap/Cinefoil

What are some other weird/random things filmmakers should always keep on set? Let us know down in the comments.
