This DIY Shock Mount Takes Just Minutes to Assemble with No Hardware Required

Microphone shock mounts are an essential piece of gear, not only because they reduce vibrations so you can pick up clean audio but also because they're a reliable mounting option. Luckily, they aren't the most expensive things in the world, hovering somewhere around $40 to $50 for a basic shotgun unit, and you can pick them up almost anywhere, but what if you're in a pinch and need to mount your mic to a boom fast? What if you just don't have the money to spend or the time to waste? Well in this tutorial, the DIYCameraGuy shows you how to build a shock mount from scratch using only a few very inexpensive and compact materials that you can have on you at all times while working on set.
The greatest thing about this DIY shock mount is that you don't really need any hardware to put it together. "Wrong, V. There's metal stuff on the materials list." Yep, there is, ya sly dog, but they're not used for assembly. The 3/8" -16 bolt, coupling nut, and hex nut are all there so you can mount your microphone onto a boom pole, while the Gear Ties take care of keeping everything nice and tight.
