It's long been rumored that Nikon would be putting out an entry in the mirrorless camera space. We can now finally confirm that something is coming (and it's coming soon).

While there is no name nor price point for the camera just yet, it seems like the company, renowned for its still photography, is finally putting a major focus on users looking to shoot video.

It's a cryptic-enough tease, but one that cleverly showcases low light functionality, a staple of the mirrorless camera and perhaps the most attractive feature for filmmakers on a budget.

Aside from that, there's not too much specific information on the camera that we can take away from the video. The silhouette reveals that Nikon will employ a more DSLR-style design then we've seen from the company in the past, made popular by Panasonic and Sony's entries. We can also tell that there's an electronic viewfinder built into the camera and a giant display on its back.

On the front, there's a massive lens mount. Some are speculating that this will be the showcase for Nikon's similarly rumored “Z mount”. These mounts will be used to house yet another rumored product in the Nikon family: two ultra-fast lenses. A 52mm f/0.9 and a 33mm f/1.2.ultra-fast f/0.95 prime lens is currently being developed for Nikon's new full-frame camera.

We will be keeping an eye on this bad boy in the upcoming months and are excited to see another entry in the more affordable mirrorless camera range. Do you think we'll see a true competitor to the A7 and GH series?
