Persistence pays off! Long thought an unfortunate film maudit, Orson Welles's final feature, The Other Side of the Wind, has long been the stuff of legend. Shot almost a half-a-century ago, Welles's film about the making of a film went through terrible legal troubles that eventually left it unfinished and unreleasable. As a result, no one has been able to view the final work of the master behind Citizen Kane, The Magnificent Ambersons, and Touch of Evil, that is, until now.

The trailer for Welles's final feature can be viewed below.

Debuting at the currently-in-progress Venice Film Festival (before landing stateside at the New York Film Festival accompanied by a documentary by Morgan Neville about its making) The Other Side of the Wind will conclude its festival run with a day-and-date release in theaters and streaming on Netflix on Friday, November 2nd.

Starring John Huston as a filmmaker in over his head (and potentially loving it) and Peter Bogdanovich (a great friend and biographer of Welles), the film looks trippy and tumultuous, a definite must watch for fans of Welles and cinephiles enthused with seeing the final work of one of America's greatest filmmakers. It's finally here. If you're a filmmaker looking to learn from the best, be sure to add The Other Side of the Wind to your Netflix queue this autumn.
