Blackmagic unveiled its Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, the new handheld digital camera that features a Micro Four Thirds (MFT) HDR sensor, native 4096x2160 resolution, dual native ISO up to 256000, and 13 stops of dynamic range.

The 18.96mm x 10mm sensor offers 4096x2160 (4K DCI), 3840x2160 (Ultra HD), 1920x1080 (HD) recording at frame rates 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94 and 60 fps. 12-bit CinemaDNG RAW and 10-bit ProRes codecs are available including CinemaDNG RAW 3:1 and ProRes 422 HQ.

According to Blackmagic, "Fourth generation color science lets customers shoot HDR images in film, video, and new extended video modes." The new extended modes combine the "latitude of digital film with an optimized video file" to provide images that don't need a lot of color correction.

Though the updated version no longer fits in your pocket as the form factor has a larger grip, the carbon fiber body is still lightweight, plus you get a bright 5" screen, 4 built-in microphones along with external buttons and dials that we're familiar with from Blackmagic.  A new USB-C Expansion Port allows you to record to an external SSD. Internally, you can record to three kinds of media: SD, UHS-II or CFast 2.0 cards.

Its audio features a mini XLR input with 48v phantom power and a 3.5mm stereo audio jack. There's also a built-in audio recorder. There is a full-size HDMI connector that can output HDR and a clean 10-bit video feed. The camera uses LP-E6 batteries and can be charged via USB-C or the locking DC power connector.

The cameras OS is the same as the URSA Mini and in addition, 3D LUTs can be applied to both recording and monitoring. The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K will cost $1,295.
