Netflix Announces Details on Martin Scorsese's Next Film Project
Marty and Bob (not De Niro) team up once again.
With Martin Scorsese's The Irishman set to premiere via Netflix later this year, the New York-born auteur is set to team up with the streaming platform for another go-round, this time in the form of a documentary.
Encompassing a lifelong fascination with Bob Dylan—the filmmaker has made several documentaries on the musical performer—Scorsese's next project will be titled Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese. The film gets its title (and "plot") from Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue tour of the mid-1970s and the film will be part concert doc, part retrospective, and part commemoration of an artist's life. The film will be released later this year, although no official premiere date has been set.
As first reported to Variety, Netflix has released a statement that "Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese captures the troubled spirit of America in 1975 and the joyous music that Dylan performed during the fall of that year. Part documentary, part concert film, part fever dream, ‘Rolling Thunder’ is a one of a kind experience, from master filmmaker Martin Scorsese."
Will Martin Scorsese be an integral part within the documentary? Only time will tell, but we'll be waiting patiently.
