As we all know, Kickstarter can be a major tool for filmmakers trying to bring their passion projects to life. For Adam Sacks, his passion lies in an utter hatred for the "metaphorical" rat shot at the end of Martin Scorsese's 2006 filmThe Departed. So much so, in fact that he's started a campaign to the tune of $4,000 to have it digitally erased.

Now, the film may have won four Oscars and made over $290 million dollars at the box office, but in Sacks opinion, "the movie has one giant glaring flaw. In the last shot, Scorsese has an actual rat crawl across the screen. The rat symbolizes rats. I get that this was just a studio film for Scorsese, but it is insane to me that he would end any movie with such a painfully on the nose metaphor." Now we can finally have a version of Scorsese's masterpiece without The Departed Rat.

This will be done in the vein of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas "digitally enhancing" their classics. Unlike their updates however, Sacks version will actually make the film better. The only problem is he can't sell any of these Blu-ray copies, because he does not own the rights to the movie. If you're as passionate about the shot as he is, however,  you can pledge $70 to have to receive one of the 50 limited edition copies. "This will allow me to buy you a legal Blu-ray of The Departed, throw that disc away, replace it with my superior version, and mail it to you," Sacks explains.

He gives a very thorough breakdown of all the reasons he needs the money and how he will spend it in the campaign, so if you happen to have a strong opinion about The Departed rat ending too, go check it out and pledge away.
