The 'Once Upon a Time In Hollywood' Poster is Here

Ever since Hateful Eight left theaters, I have been dying for what Quentin Tarantino had for us next. 

I have to admit, I was a little skeptical about him taking on Sharon Tate. Especially when Tarantino doesn't have the best history with being sensitive to women and violence, you know. But, as a fan of his work, I can't help but be intrigued by a movie set in 1969, that's about events Tarantino saw on the news as a youth.

Well, now the first poster has been released via Leonardo DiCaprio's Twitter. And it looks pretty cool. 

Sure the cropped version looks neat but scroll down for the full image.

To be honest, I thought this poster was a little bland. It kind of looks like a rom-com or buddy comedy. And without seeing a trailer for the movie, I hope it's both. We know the movie has an extensive cast, but it's good to get the stars out front. With the movie debuting in July, Tarantino has been tight-lipped both about the story and about images from the set. 

Now, Margot Robbie let her poster go on Instagram.

A few months ago he did let Vanity Fair do a photo shoot, and those images are much more revealing.

We know Tarantino loves a good period piece. And Pulp Fiction serves as a great homage to Los Angeles already. But it will be interesting to see how close to reality Tarantino stays with this project. I have voiced my concerns over the movie, which was originally set to premiere on the 50th anniversary of Tate's murder, but now the movie will open earlier in the summer. And is distancing itself from that controversy. 

Will this movie stick to what happened? Or will it be like Inglorious Basterds and give us an alternate reality of what happened? 

Leonardo DiCaprio stars as a washed-up TV Western star and Brad Pitt as his stunt double. Tarantino doing a movie on movies seems like a dream come true. 

Could this movie get everyone involved back in the Oscar spotlight? 

The film's all-star cast also includes Al Pacino, Timothy Olyphant, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, Dakota Fanning, James Marsden, Scoot McNairy, Emile Hirsch, and Margaret Qualley. 

Scoot McNairy recently spoke to Collider about being on the film. 

"That was probably one of the greatest experiences of my career. Just to watch Quentin be on set and be Quentin, and hold court, was one of the most fascinating things I have probably ever experienced in the movie business. It was an amazing, awesome experience. I would give anything to do it again. I really loved just listening to the guy be an encyclopedia on set. It’s incredible, the amount of information that guy stores in his head. But, it was great. I play a character that’s within a TV show in the movie. I know I’m not supposed to speak too much about it, but I can say that I play a character on a TV show, within the movie."

It will be interesting to see how all these actors fit in, especially Hirsch, who has been mostly shunned from Hollywood after his assault of a female executive. 

The pictures create an interesting world, and I can't wait to see if this is a return to form for Tarantino. 

All in all, this is a highly anticipated release for the auteur filmmaker.
