I know we all have aspirations, but I think one shared by many of the people who read this site is to compete for an Academy Award. I know it seems far fetched, but I practice my speech in the shower all the time, and I think it could be really good.

One category that I think we all could compete in is Best Short Film. Sure, there's lots of competition, but making a good short film is not as crazy as you think. You might be able to write and shoot a few a year if you keep them small enough, and all you have to do is play in a few festivals to get noticed.

I know, all that is hard! But it's not impossible.

Anyway, as you dare to dream, check out these 10 animated short films. They made the shortlist for the Animated Short Film category. 96 total films qualified, and members of the Short Films and Feature Animation Branch voted to determine the shortlist.

Check them out and let me know what you think in the comments.
