Currently, Angenieux is best known for its excellent line of cinema zoom lenses. Popular with indie, studio and TV cinematographers, they offer stunning image quality, great mechanics, and a variety of sensor coverage options that have kept them at the top of the market. This is combined with a "look" that is often talked about as being the best combination of the creaminess of Cooke and the sharpness of Zeiss to create some very dynamic imagery.

While Angenieux has concentrated on zooms for decades, they have made prime lenses in the past, and are now launching a full line of Optimo prime lenses to bring themselves back into the prime market.

This is especially exciting for filmmakers who want to freely mix between prime and zoom on a production. While it's doable with Angie zooms and other brands of primes, the ability to order a full matched set of Optimo primes and zooms should make for seamless intercutting.

Comprising a full set of 10 prime lenses, they offer all the features that a modern lens set requires to be competitive. Unsurprisingly for Angenieux, they offer an interchangeable rear lens mount, with LPL, PL, Panavision XL, and more options available. LPL and XL will be exceptionally useful since the primes cover the Full Frame image circle (46.5mm). They support both the major lens data formats, Cooke /i and Arri LDS. They are all matched in lens ring position to make it easier to swing between lenses without having to move your focus and iris motors. And they all open all the way to a T1.8.
