Is the 12-35mm 2.8 That comes with the GH4 Worth it?

Hey Guys.

I'm going to buy a Panasonic GH4 but i'm not sure what I want to buy.
I currently have:
Tokina 11-16mm 2.8
Samyang 85mm 1.4
Samyang 8mm Fisheye 3.5

My question is:
Is the 12-35mm 2.8 That comes with the GH4 Worth it?
Or is is just a little bit better than the normal kitlens?
Or is is better to stay with my normal lenses instaid of buying a panasonic lens?

Thanks alot!

If you need the speed and want to shoot hand-held it's definitely worth it. The 12-35mm f/2.8 is quite sharp wide open, and improves slightly as you stop down. This is one of the most useful zooms available for the GH4 camera. Make sure your lens is updated to firmware ver 1.2, which fixed all the "jitter" issues this lens originally had.

The standard Panasonic kit lenses ( 12-32mm, 14-42 Mk2, 14-45mm ) are also sharp lenses but they are f/5.6 on the long end of their zoom range, which makes them useless in low-light situations.

Are you adapting the Tokina 11-16mm to m4/3? Or do you have the cine version?

I ask because if you're adapting them with something like a speedbooster, then I'd just get the Sigma 18-35 in whatever mount you are using. You get better low-light, and in combo with your Tokina, you cover the range.

If your lenses are all micro-four thirds however, then I'd say your bought into the mount, so the 12-35 would be a decent purchase.

Go for the 12-35. You'll find you rarely need anything else. It is an excellent lens.

The 12-35 is a fantastic little lens. Very sharp with good image stabilisation. Not a bad range either. Can be difficult to get nice shallow depth of field but I find myself using it all the time for corporate shoots, as well as my own stuff.

Would be a great addition to round off your current lens kit.
