Picture Farm Film Festival Relaunches Website and
Is Now Open For Submissions
The Third Annual Commercial Director Mentorship Program is Back!
NEW YORK, January 29, 2020 - It might be freezing cold outside but our hearts grow warm just thinking about the return of our annual neighborhood film festival - The 7th Annual Picture Farm Film Festival that is! In fact, we’re so excited that we’re announcing it with a brand new website relaunch!
Along with the website, we are now accepting submissions for our 2020 program. Unlike other festivals, we program all of our blocks with an eclectic range of genres bounded by loose but thoughtful themes. Think of it as a mixtape from your most eccentric friend. By the end of the festival, our filmmakers end up cross pollinating their passions, influences and ideas with connections that last well beyond the festival.
2019’s edition saw continued growth, with 114 submitted films whittled down to 28 short-form pieces presented in three blocks over the weekend of June 14th & 15th. It was a tremendous success as we sold out the entire showcase, exhibiting varied and ambitious work to our professional and neighborhood community alike.
Filmmakers are once again invited to apply for The Picture Farm Commercial Director Mentorship Program, a robust support system designed to help emerging voices navigate the rigors of the advertising industry. Our goal is to develop their own process for the particular demands of brand content creation. Past jurors from the program include Jeremy Dawson (Academy Award nominated producer Moonrise Kingdom, Fantastic Mr. Fox), Meghan Oretsky (Curator, Vimeo/Ladies with Lenses), and Julian Katz (Head of Production, Mother).
Initially operating out of Picture Farm’s Williamsburg headquarters, the Picture Farm Film Festival has since moved venues up the street to the Wythe Hotel, who has generously hosted the event since 2018. This year’s program will unfold over three days from June 17 - 19, 2020 with a closing ceremony at The Gutter Bar in Williamsburg, BK.
