Best DSLR Gimbal for no more than $1000?

I'm shooting more run and gun than I'd care these days in order to keep costs down. I like a nice steady locked off shot. I'm looking for a cheap Gimbal that I could get to tide me over until I can afford a Movi. Wondering if anyone else has experience with this?

For mirrorless cameras like the Panasonic GH4 or Sony A7S the $700 Nebula 4000 pistol-grip gimbal is a pretty impressive piece of gear for the price...

For slightly larger DSLR cameras the CAME Mini Gimbal looks like a good bet at $1,200...
