Best way to make a film look like it was shot in America

A film I will be making shortly is set in America and I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to make other countries (Australia) look like America?

I think the best thing to do is to look out for little design features in your landscape that give away the game. Things like roadsigns, mail boxes, and license plates all tie a location to a particular country. I'd try to compose your shots so you avoid such things.
