Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera - Video and Thoughts
Hey all! Shot a wedding with the Micro Cinema Camera, thought I'd share. Got it a couple days before, so not a lot of time for testing which made me nervous, but everything seemed to work out fine.
Certain Canon style LP batteries seemed to get juiced much faster or not work as well, but the ones that worked fine got me about an hour and 20 minutes on the camera. Not too shabby considering I was recording most the time in 60fps in ProRes HQ.
Form factor is interesting, I ended up shoulder rigging it, but it's so small it can lend itself to a lot of different set ups.
I wanted to get it on my pistol grip gimbal, but it balances odd since it's kind of a little block. Need to tinker with that more.
The image is pretty damn amazing...I'd actually say it's a tad better than the pocket. Something about it seems a little sharper, and the colors seem a tad more accurate in some sort of way. Hard to put my finger on it. Really beautiful, sharp image.
Let me know what you think! This is the shorter "cinematic wedding film" I did with custom original music by me as well; there's a much longer more 'recap wedding video' on my vimeo page with tons more footage from the Micro.
