Different approach to digital cinematography
I've been thinking about this for a while. With everybody being on a shoestring budget, wanting "cinematic" looks and using laptops for editing, why not use an industrial USB 3.0 camera? Sony has a new line of sensors (like the IMX249) with analogue memory instead of amplifiers by the light wells. This means native global shutter and larger light wells, just like CCDs do, but at a fraction of the price. It seems like the best of both worlds (and I know the color science is good). Is anybody out there doing this? If I had a laptop with USB 3.0, I'd jump all over it.
